Gene`s Fine Food in Union

Expensive chicken dinner (dark meat) 2 legs, one thigh nothing exceptional with modest scoop of Cole slaw and potato salad and dinner roll no drink. $9.60. Not sure that I would have chicken again.

This is a local, hometown restaurant that has good food at a good price!

Waited 15 minutes before we even gave up on trying to order. They weren't even trying to move fast as the whole time we waited only one group got their good and half of it was missing. They told the guy in front of us that a chicken leg meal would take 16 minutes to cook. Not sure I would want to eat chicken cooked that long. It's very hot in there as well so it wasn't a pleasant wait either.

They are open late and have great food. My Wife loves the special. We both enjoy the food and deserts.

Food was pretty good. My boyfriend had the country fried steak and I had some sort of big burger with some sort of special sauce on it. With both really enjoyed our meal, and it was not ridiculously priced either. Definitely a small town/family run kind of feel to it. It was nice

What a legacy... Gene is a tremendously sweet gentlemen who has been in business for over 50 years. We had the pleasure of stumbling on to his place on a motorcycle trip. The food was great and the staff and atmosphere even better. If you're in Union South Carolina stop and see Gene!

We try to stop by here whenever we're in the area. It's a wonderful gray spoon with a lot of fantastic pictures of famous people who have eaten here. It's always a treat!

Wonderful trip down the 1950's road. Gene, the owner/operator, is there, as he has been for over 50 years, most of the time, and is more than willing to share his colorful history and that of his restaurant with you, in brief conversations. Most of the interesting decor has been acquired by Gene himself and he has stories for every piece, from autographed )photos of Presidents to picures of NASCAR greats, past and present. Food is outstanding "diner" fare and home made specials round out a great and satisfying menu of good eats. Hot Dogs to Collard Greens, steaks and hamburgers, Gene's got'em and everything in between. HOWEVER Gene's DOES NOT, serve BREAKFAST! Families and young kids are welcome and catered to. Gene's is exceptionally clean and it's an attractive atmosphere to have a quick, old time lunch, or a full and satisfying dinner. I HIGHLY recommended Gene's.

Roadside diner absolutely a must to visit. Chicken sandwich and fried pickles and homemade cobbler a most satifiying meal. They have a variety of foods for all to enjoy.

This place is amazing!!! Fills you up with out having stuffed feeling! Great people!

Really good comfort food. Hotdogs with chili, mustard, and onion as good as I've had anywhere. Fried Pickles on the side made it a full meal. Homemade apple cobbler to top it off. Clean restroom and extremely friendly staff made the meal very enjoyable.

Gene's has always been a favorite! Wonderful people and awesome people!

This is a great place to eat. Nostalgic with all the pictures and atmosphere of old fashioned family friendly dining.

The food was as good as I had hoped it would be and the service was excellent. Gene runs a restaurant the way it should be! The place was immaculate, the menu went all the way from chili-dogs to homemade vegetable soup. We stayed in Union 4 days and ate at Gene's 4 times and every time was fun and very, very inexpensive.These are the nicest people you'll ever meet and if you need to know anything about the area, anybody who works there can tell you anything you need to know. We're so glad we stopped there the first time and we'll go back every time we're in Union.Thanks Gene!

Food always good ,different foods

Very expensive, hamburgers were cold and found 2 hairs in the chicken wings. The lady we told at the register did not care, never offered any restitution or anything. We will never go back there again.

The building is not much to look at so ignore the building and give them a try. Big juicy burgers..prices are good...Good old fashion burgers and fries..I really liked it.

Waited in line 10 minutes after I placed my order to pay for it. Problem is no one was in front of me. Afterwards there was still a wait for the food to be brought to the table. After, I got my food there was a roach crawling on the paper wrapper I had removed from my sandwich. I don't know if this was in my wrapper or crawled on it from the table. The person I was with told them about it and they explain they thought they were being brought in by guest in their bags. That they were spraying themselves for them. If this is an ongoing problem I recommend they get a professional service to spay every month and then every time they see one.

Friendly customer service, very accommodating, and liked the hotdogs and onion rings. I loved the throwback decor as well.

Took too long to get our food, and then when we did the wings were overcooked. Also, the "sauce" on the wings is more like a syrup or a glaze and not the least bit spicy. The burger was good, but not great- there's nothing special about a frozen patty. The fries were good, but both portions were small, as well as the coleslaw. A small soda is $1.50 plus .60 for a refill! Would not recommend, will not be going back. Not worth the money imho.

A monument to local fast food! This place has been around forever and it is always consistently good. Atmosphere is typical to a local joint that has been added onto a few times over the years. Not the most modern, or easy to navigate around in place. Just a place where you can be assured to get really good fast food. The Texas Burger Basket is highly recommended!

The food was good but tea was not I think the tea ern needs to be took apart and cleaned really good ! It tasted spoiled and I've tried it two times on two different days !
